HAMB Drags 2011

So the HAMB Drags 2011 has come and gone. Another stellar weekend. I picked Zeke up on the way through Tennessee and despite the mighty Mississippi flooding our preferred route we made it to Ryno’s house just after 2am. Though short a few VB’s we made the brats happen and kept the tradition alive. I’m hoping a lot more brothers will make it next year…

One kick ass project…

Over on the HAMB, I found a build thread that is, well, nothing short of amazing. I say thread, but in reality, it’s three threads, but all part of a whole. Seret Speed, and HAMB member KIRK! founder of Billetproof, and now editor of Goodguys magazine, are designing and building from scratch a european styled sports car.

check it out if you get a moment, its nothing short of spectacular, and well worth the time to read!

Huge Thank You

Last spring at the Vintage Torque Fest I left early in the afternoon before the trophy presentations for 2 very good reasons. I wanted to get over to the “Field of Dreams” location and get some pictures before they closed.

Also because my 52 Vert was not quite ready for a road trip I drove my 62 Vette, yeah I know, a solid axle vette at a hot rod and custom show, what the hell was I thinking? Well it’s better than driving my DD 2001 Yukon. Anyway there was no way in hell that I was going to win an award with my Plastic Fantastic so why not leave early, right?

WRONG !!!!

It seems that the Wisconsin bunch with the help of some reprobates from Iowa, Illinois and even Minnesota had other ideas.

My name was called during the award presentations but NOT FOR MY CAR. Their idea was kind of a goofy one but they decided to give their trophy not to a CAR but to a person.  The award was named the KING OF THE ROAD TRIPS, presented by the Vagabonds to none other than the guy that skipped out early. Was I ever suprised when I found out about it at the hotel, surprised and Embarrassed beyond words. I have tried to thank the Vagabonds indivdually but know that I have missed some of you.

That was the most meaningfull award I have ever received and it sits in a place of honor in my tool room of my shop.

Thanks again guy’s it really means a lot and it sure is fun running into your fun loving group all over the midwest. Happy travels to you, looking forward to next crusing season and more good times and good beer and good food.

new art

made a new poster for this year’s gathering of the faithful. came out pretty rad i think. i also think that i have been making the same stuff for too long, and it might be time to change it up a bit. i think i am gonna restock my poster supply from existing plates, and then move on a little bit. change up the format some.
